Giuseppe Mancini

si è laureato con lode in ingegneria Civile presso l’Università di Catania, in ingegneria Ambientale presso l’Università La Sapienza di Roma e ha conseguito il dottorato in Ingegneria Sanitaria Ambientale presso il Politecnico di Milano. 

Già docente di “impianti di trattamento sanitario ambientale”, "ingegneria sanitaria ambientale" e “Dinamica degli inquinanti e bonifica dei siti contaminati” nel corso di ingegneria Civile e Ambientale dell’Università di Catania è oggi docente di “Chemical Plants” nel corso di laurea in Chemical Engineering for Industrial Sustainability del Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica, Elettronica ed Informatica dell’Università di Catania. 

Svolge attività di ricerca nell’analisi e sviluppo di processi ed impianti per il trattamento di acque e rifiuti liquidi e solidi, terreni contaminati e per il risanamento ambientale. 

E’ autore di oltre 120 pubblicazioni scientifiche su riviste internazionali, nazionali e atti di conferenze internazionali e nazionali. 

E’ stato responsabile scientifico o coordinatore per l’Università di Catania di diversi progetti di ricerca al livello nazionale (PRIN, PON) nell’ambito del trattamento acque, rifiuti, bonifiche, della tutela del mare dall’inquinamento e del risanamento dell’ambiente marino. E’ componente del Consiglio Direttivo Nazionale dell’Associazione degli Ingegneri per l’Ambiente e il Territorio con delega ai rapporti con le Università e gli Ordini professionali (www.ingegneriambientali.it).



He is currently a Senior Researcher in Chemical Plants at University of Catania, Italy, being Senior Researcher in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering at University of Catania, Italy, from 2001 to 2011. He graduated cum Laude in Civil Engineering (Hydraulic section) at University of Catania, Italy, in 1994, got the Ph.D. in Environmental Sanitary Engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan, in 2000 and again graduated cum Laude in Engineering for the Environment and the Territory at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome, Italy, in 2001;

He has taught several courses in the Degree Course of Engineering for the Environment and the Territory and Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Catania. Specifically he has taught: Pollutant Dynamic; Environmental and Sanitary Treatment Plants; Environmental and Sanitary Engineering; Pollutant Dynamic and contaminated sites remediation; He is now teaching Chemical Plants at the Chemical Engineering for Industrial Sustainability Degree Course (in English). 

He is author of more than 120 published papers in the field of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Fluid Dynamics, some of which published by prestigious International Journals. 

He was local coordinator and national Coordinator of several research projects founded by MIUR and MISE. He was also Charter Member, first (2004-2007) and third (2009-2010) president of AIAT-SICILIA (Association of Environmental Engineers of Sicily region, founded in 2004) (www.aiatsicilia.it) and he is now member of the Executive Council of the Italian Association of Environmental Engineers (www.ingegneriambientali.it) 

His present research interests are mainly directed towards chemical processes and biotechnologies, including waste and wastewater treatments and soil, sediments and marine environment remediation/protection.
